Description

Balistoides conspicillum, commonly known as the Clown Triggerfish, is one of the most visually striking and recognizable triggerfish in the marine aquarium trade. It features a bold pattern of large white spots across the lower body, a deep black base, and a vivid yellow mouth with contrasting white markings, creating a high-contrast, almost cartoon-like appearance. Juveniles are especially vibrant, while adults retain strong patterning with increased size and presence.

Native to the Indo-Pacific, the Clown Triggerfish inhabits lagoons and outer reef slopes, where it patrols territory and feeds on hard-shelled invertebrates.
