Purple Tang (Zebrasoma xanthurum) – Red Sea
A highly sought-after surgeonfish known for its deep violet-purple body and bright yellow tail. Native to the Red Sea, this species is prized for its intense coloration, active swimming behavior, and excellent algae-grazing ability. A striking centerpiece fish for large marine and reef aquariums.

Active mid to upper tank swimmer. Requires ample open swimming space with well-established live rock for grazing and hiding. Minimum tank size: 120 gallons (450+ liters).

Diet:

Note: Like all surgeonfish, it has a sharp caudal spine (“scalpel”) used for defense — handle with care.
