Description

Pterois radiata, commonly known as the Radiata Lionfish, is a striking and less commonly encountered lionfish species distinguished by its bold striping and elegant fin structure. This species features a dark reddish-brown body contrasted by crisp white vertical bands, along with long, flowing pectoral fins and a distinctive pair of white “antennae” above the eyes. Its refined patterning and slightly more slender profile set it apart from more common lionfish species.

Native to the Indo-Pacific, the Radiata Lionfish inhabits reef slopes and lagoons, where it moves deliberately and hunts using stealth, often cornering prey with its extended fins.
