Description

This extraordinary Aberrant Zebrasoma scopas displays a highly unusual combination of disrupted body pigmentation and intensely luminous yellow finnage, creating a dramatic “fire fin” effect rarely observed within the species. The specimen features a deep charcoal to bronze body overlaid with irregular aberrant tonal transitions, while the dorsal, anal, and caudal fins ignite in vivid yellow-gold coloration that appears almost fluorescent under reef lighting.

Unlike standard Scopas Tang coloration, the contrast between the darker body mass and radiant finnage creates an aggressive visual separation that immediately commands attention. The fins appear illuminated against the subdued body tones, giving the fish a surreal, high-energy appearance that feels entirely disconnected from conventional wild-type presentation.

Aberrant Zebrasoma specimens with this degree of fin-specific xanthic expression are exceptionally uncommon and highly prized among collectors due to their immediate visual impact and apparent unreproducibility. Each individual develops its own unique distribution of aberrancy, making no two specimens visually identical.

What elevates this specimen further is the intensity and cleanliness of the yellow finnage itself. Rather than muted discoloration, the fins exhibit concentrated, high-saturation pigment expression that creates the signature “fire fin” appearance sought after by advanced collectors.

Collector’s Note:
High-grade aberrant Zebrasoma scopas specimens displaying strong yellow fin expression combined with stable body aberrancy are extraordinarily rare in the marine aquarium trade. Individuals with vivid finnage, balanced contrast, and uninterrupted body condition are regarded as elite collector pieces rarely encountered outside specialized private collections.
