Description
A unique and highly sought-after frogfish known for its bright red to orange coloration and incredible camouflage. This ambush predator uses a specialized lure (illicium) on its head to attract prey, striking in a split second. Its textured, sponge-like appearance allows it to blend perfectly into reef environments, making it a fascinating display species.

Indo-Pacific region including Indonesia, Philippines, and surrounding coral reef systems.
Lighting:
Low to moderate lighting.
Placement:
Bottom dweller. Prefers rockwork, ledges, and areas where it can perch and ambush prey. Does not require large swimming space. Minimum tank size: 30–50 gallons (115–190 liters).
