Hoplolatilus purpureus, commonly known as the Purple Tilefish or Purple Sand Tilefish, is a graceful and colorful deepwater species prized for its vivid violet body, metallic blue highlights, and iridescent sheen. Peaceful, intelligent, and social, it is best known for its hovering swimming style and habit of constructing burrows in sandy substrates. When kept in pairs or small groups, it exhibits fascinating cooperative behavior and an elegant presence in the aquarium.
